Wild Kitty
It’s been a week since the dog named Kitty came to our house as a foster. There have been no attempts to change his name as he really knows it well and Madison & Caitlin think it’s hilarious that a big red dog is called Kitty. So first of all, having a dog named Kitty makes “No Kitty” cat training a bit confusing. 🙂 That being said, Kitty thankfully has very little interest in our cat. Additionally, he is, despite his size and age (only 2), fairly gentle and laid back. He loves his crate, hasn’t had any attempts to mark anything, seems to be only mildly interested in counter surfing (nose goes along the edge – no paws come up) and loves to romp in the yard with the whippets. His tail is always wagging – he reminds me of our Twister who would have to sit on his tail for a “settle” command because otherwise he couldn’t stop it from wagging. (seriously – he figured this out on his own!)
I am home for school break so plan to work more one on one with him over the next two weeks – he already seems to know “lay down” as a command and is learning “wait” & “release” fairly quickly. It will be good to see what else he can pick up – he seems very smart and eager to please if a bit of a dork (I blame his age!) at times. He is a big baby and can be easily frightened though turns back with a “I wasn’t scared, really” attitude that fools no one. 🙂
Kitty will be an excellent addition to any home and I imagine it won’t be long until he is snatched up.
