Ugly Neighbor
Pete, aka Ugly Neighbor, is a graduate of the TGIE program. Although 3 ½ years old, Pete still has a lot of pup in him. He is extremely handsome, and he is also playful, active, and very intelligent. Pete loves to take his toy into the backyard and toss it around in the air until he is exhausted. He doesn’t need someone to play with, but he does love it when he is joined by us. He likes to get some laps in while he plays, too. Pete is also a great walker. He enjoys neighborhood walks and is friends with everyone he meets. He especially likes kids, as was shown at the Ann Arbor meet and greet, where every kid was met with a wagging tail and kisses. Prospective adopters should be prepared to exercise him a couple of times a day to burn some of that energy, but he has adapted to our schedule and energy level very quickly. Pete is also very vocal, speaking his own Pete language when he wants attention from you. He crates pretty well, but he did have some separation issues the first couple of days. He was whining and barking after we left, but he is more calm now and is getting used to the daily routine of comings and goings. He rides very well in a car, lying down almost immediately. He loves his treats and belly rubs, and he loves every dog bed in the house. He’s not picky about where he sleeps. Pete is not cat safe, but he didn’t have any problems with the small dogs he encountered at the meet and greet, including a little puppy he checked out. He is extremely friendly with other dogs and people. We think he would be fine as an only dog or as part of a pack.
