Connie Cassidy had recently lost her first greyhound Niles and she was looking for another black dog to keep his rug warm. She asked me to find her a dog, telling me that it wasn’t to replace Niles, because he could never be replaced. It was unspoken that this dog would be loved but never be as special as Niles was to her.

In my travels I see a lot of dogs waiting to come into adoption, they’re all special in their own way. There was one big black boy that was different. Robin had an excitement in him that made you smile when you looked at him. He was a calm dog, but when you gave him your attention he responded with a gentle excitement that was impossible to resist. This big boy had the size and strength to take down a two hundred pound man but filled with a gentleness that made me know he’d be perfect for my tiny dancing friend.

Robin became Finnegan in short order and within days had won the race to Connie’s heart and became as special to her as Niles had been. It’s magic how love works!
