Okie Fritz
Fritz came to MI in search of his family, he was lost due to complications from what later was determined to be an infection that he had when he arrived called Histoplasmosis. The letter below is from our vet coordinator, and Fritz’s foster family.

It is with a heavy heart that I must announce that Fritz did not survive surgery today. Initial indications were optimistic, as the barium (introduced yesterday) did show some movement. An ultrasound was performed, and indicated several masses of unknown etiology, so we proceeded with the exploratory surgery. The masses were determined to be grossly enlarged mesenteric lymph nodes (Fritz showed marked swelling of the lymph nodes in his neck and hocks as well).
Samples of the suspicious lymph nodes, as well as a section of questionable intestine were taken for biopsy. Lymphosarcoma is one suspect, though we must await the results of the biopsy before we will know for sure. The decision to revive Fritz was never made, his heart stopped mid-surgery and all efforts to resuscitate him were unsuccessful. He crossed the Rainbow Bridge at approximately 2:30 this afternoon.
Thankyou all for your caring prayers and white-light

~ Original Bio ~
Fritz is an absolutly stunning boy with a gorgeous face and a personality to match. This boy raced briefly in Kansas and decided he’d rather be sitting on a sofa here in MI.
