Chewie is a very shy boy who needs a consistent routine and a quiet home. He’s a very docile, sweet dog who just needs lots of time and patience to come out of his shell. In his time at his foster home, he has progressed from not venturing out of his crate at all to generally preferring the cushy dog beds in the living room – he still startles easily and needs to be approached slowly but is learning to trust his foster family more each day. Chewie gets along very well with other dogs and would probably be happiest with a playmate. He is also cat safe. Chewie was adopted on 03/20/2007 by Don and Judi Theeck.

“Sadly, Chewie was helped to the bridge on Memorial Day 2011 with us by his side. He was such a beautiful old soul who through the trying and painful issues he had that would come and go he always made us laugh (he was a silly ham bone). He loved playing with and teasing Grinch, going for walks, his hoards of stuffies and his bedtime cookies. Chewie touched our hearts and our lives and we will miss him dearly everyday. We will love him forever and we are so grateful to everyone at GEM who helped bring this special boy into our lives.
