Journey is an affectionate and sweet greyhound who absolutely adores
children. She enjoys daily kisses and hugs from the 1.5 & 3.5 year
old children in her foster home; the 1.5 year old can even call her
over for snuggles. She loves playing with stuffed toys and other dogs
though may be a bit rambunctious for some dogs due to her age – the
older greyhounds in her foster home mostly ignore her which causes her
to paddle and spin about around them to beg for a good run in the
yard. Inside, however, she is every bit a lazy greyhound and usually
prefers snuggling and scratchies to playtime. She is cat safe –
actually somewhat cat-scared – however she’s also only 1.5 years old
so needs monitoring for her occasional play attempts with the cats.
The cats in her foster home are not amused and have hissed at her to
stop which works quite well. She crates VERY well and has adjusted to
her foster parents’ full time work schedule. Journey can be more
timid around men than women though adjusts fairly quickly. Fast
movements or loud voices can cause her to startle though she doesn’t
run – she will lay down submissively and wag her tail instead.
Thankfully she’s highly food motivated and treats can easily sway her
opinion of a person. Her food motivation also makes her very
trainable and she already knows “lay down” on command and will most
likely learn “sit” easily as she sits outside at the door when she’s
ready to come in from potty breaks. She really is just an adorably
sweet little girl who hopes to find a home of her own.
