Bonus Points
I am sorry to tell everyone that Dr. VanDaele and I helped Bonnie The Brave (Bonus Points) to the bridge this morning. As for those of you that don’t know Bonnie, she came to us as a foster about a year and a half ago. She came from the best racing people we know (The Spillane family). Bonnie became an unadoptable foster a year ago in September due to the C word. She had surgery to remove a mass on her neck and made a remarkable recovery for over a year. Shortly before the surgery though and just after the biopsy she got out and was lost for four days. We found her and after the surgery became to my family and all of GEM as Bonnie The Brave. Just this spring she was running with the other two Greyts Jolly and Kora and split her leg open on my daughters swing set. She was a trooper with everything she went through and now the cancer came back with a vengeance. I checked her neck regularly and literally one day it was not there and thenext day it was the size of a lemon. A week later the size of a larger softball and today it was the size of a large cantaloupe. I took her this morning and Dr. VanDaele and I made the decision to let her go. It was time to say goodbye.
Bonnie, you were my sweet, sweet girl and I will miss everything about you. Yes even you being a nasty crabby ole thing to the other dogs and cats. I will never forget you and I know you will be waiting for us all at the bridge.
Drinda, I want to thank you for giving m the opportunity to foster such a remarkable girl and please know that I did everything that I could for Bonnie The Brave.
